Yoel Romero faced a significant challenge in terms of height on Saturday.
Romero defeated Ras Hylton, who stands tall at 6-foot-6, by TKO in the third round. The fight headlined the debut event of the Dirty Boxing Championship in South Florida. This new promotion, blending boxing and MMA rules, was initiated by Mike Perry and now includes Jon Jones as a co-owner.
Romero fought cautiously in the initial two three-minute rounds, adapting to his considerably taller opponent, who reportedly wears a size 23 shoe. However, in the third round, the 47-year-old fighter from Cuba increased his aggression, ultimately securing the finish against Hylton.
Following his departure from the UFC in 2020 after a title fight loss to Israel Adesanya, Romero signed with Bellator, achieving a 3-2 record. He previously competed for DBX in their `pilot` event last November, achieving a first-round victory over Duane Crespo.
