LAS VEGAS – Ode Osbourne entered UFC on ESPN 65 after three consecutive losses but stated he felt no pressure.
Facing undefeated newcomer Luis Gurule, Osbourne (13-8 MMA, 5-6 UFC) focused on his self-belief and delivered a fantastic performance, securing a second-round TKO victory at the UFC Apex.
“Going into this fight, I didn’t see anything he was going to do to me on the feet, that was my assessment,” Osbourne told reporters at the post-fight conference. “I knew he moved his head well and had good cardio. So, my plan was to take away his gas tank. Eventually, I knew I would get the TKO, and people will start calling me T-K-Ode.”
Osbourne praised his striking coach, Dewey Cooper, for his invaluable work, emphasizing the constant drilling of techniques, mental growth, and experience that contributed to his victory.
Despite entering the fight on a three-fight skid, a position that often puts UFC fighters` careers in jeopardy, Osbourne said he didn`t feel any added pressure. He remained focused on executing his game plan to bounce back from previous tough results.
“Honestly, no, because I know my capabilities,” Osbourne responded when asked about feeling pressure. “As long as I am confident in my abilities, I know where I stand. I just needed to stay calm. That’s crucial because when I get going and use my explosiveness, I can unleash too much and gas myself out.”
