UFC Fighter Jamall Emmers Aims for Winner of Rodriguez vs. Costa

MMA News

Jamall Emmers prefers a straightforward approach in his fights. He`s not interested in complex strategies or lengthy battles.

His goal when he enters the octagon is to be precise and efficient, like a sniper. This is exactly what Emmers (21-8 MMA, 4-4 UFC) demonstrated at UFC on ESPN 64 in Mexico City on Saturday. He defeated Gabriel Miranda (17-8 MMA, 1-3 UFC) in a preliminary card match at the CDMX Arena.

“I’m not really expecting anything special,” Emmers mentioned to reporters after the fight. “I just focus on getting the win. I don’t want to get into drawn-out fights. I try to be sharp and clean, like a sniper – quick in and out, making every shot count.”

Emmers admitted he was surprised by Miranda`s aggressive start, especially considering the high altitude in Mexico City. He also noted that the energy from the Mexican crowd was even greater than he anticipated.

Being a well-informed fighter in the UFC featherweight division, Emmers already had his next opponent in mind. Another featherweight match was scheduled on the same card, following his fight, and Emmers expressed his interest in facing the victor.

“I know there’s another featherweight fight happening tonight,” Emmers stated. “I want to fight the winner of that match next, whenever it may be. Christian Rodriguez and Melquizael Costa are both very talented and well-rounded fighters, in my opinion. I believe a fight with either of them would be a good challenge for me.”

Shortly after Emmers spoke, Costa won against Rodriguez by decision.
