Bannon on Overcoming the Head Kick
“My mindset was just to do whatever it took to win after getting hit with that head kick. I knew I was knocked down and on my back, but I`m very comfortable fighting from there. I`ve trained extensively in jiu-jitsu from that position, and the armbar is my go-to move. When I locked in the armbar and Tomar wasn`t tapping, I could sense she was fading. I transitioned underneath, secured the arm, and the finish was there.”
Bannon Discusses Increased Fight Frequency
“I understand the importance of staying active for mental well-being. Some fighters define themselves solely by their fighting career, but I have a more balanced perspective as a mother. However, at 31, I`m committed to making a strong run in the next few years. I want to compete regularly, without long breaks. Staying active is key for maintaining momentum and achieving my goals this year.”
Bannon`s Future Fight Aspirations
“My goal is to break into the rankings. Ideally, I`d like to fight three more times this year – early summer, September, and December. That would be perfect for me as I thrive on momentum. In my early career, I had 12 professional fights within five months, competing almost every other weekend. I perform best with that kind of activity. The year-long gap was unavoidable, but I prefer to stay busy and active. Consistent fighting is what I`m aiming for this year.”
