Sean Brady believes Colby Covington is not even worth his time.
Covington (17-5 MMA, 12-5 UFC) was questioned about Brady`s impressive submission victory over Leon Edwards, which occurred recently at UFC Fight Night 255. Covington considered it a favorable matchup. Brady (18-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) was also challenged by Kamaru Usman (20-4 MMA, 15-3 UFC), but the current top-ranked UFC welterweight brushed off both contenders.
“I have been pursuing a fight with Usman for months,” Brady stated on his “The BradyBagz Show.” “I contacted him directly, reached out, and now he suggests a fight between me and Brady for the No. 1 contender spot. Really? I just defeated the guy who defeated you twice! My next fight should be for the belt, either against the current champion or the loser, or perhaps a No. 1 contender match against Shavkat.”
Regarding Covington labeling him as an easy opponent, Brady unleashed a verbal attack on the former interim champion, who is currently on a two-fight losing streak.
“It`s the same situation with Covington: I`ve been requesting that fight for a long time. The UFC essentially told me, ‘This guy is not good,’” Brady mentioned. “The funniest thing is, I saw a clip my brother sent me where he said, ‘Sean Brady is terrible. I`ve never watched his fights. Blah blah blah. I remember seeing him get beat up by Belal.’ Dude, you just admitted you`ve never watched my fights, but then you recall me getting beat up by Belal, which makes no sense.”
“He claims to be this high-level wrestler. I`m thinking, ‘Bro, Leon took you down multiple times and dominated you. Do you see what I just did to Leon? Imagine what I would do to you? I would absolutely destroy him. He can`t even defeat anyone in the top 15. He might not even be employed anymore. When was the last time he actually won a fight? He is terrible. Colby, you are a coward. How can you be physically assaulted by (Jorge) Masvidal in public and then sue him? You are not a real fighter. You are a coward.”
