Sean Brady Triumphs Over Leon Edwards in UFC London Main Event

MMA News

At UFC Fight Night 255, Sean Brady achieved a significant victory by becoming the first fighter to defeat Leon Edwards by finish.

Brady (18-1 MMA, 8-1 UFC) showcased his dominance against Edwards (22-5 MMA, 14-4 UFC) in their welterweight main event at The O2 Arena in London. The fight concluded in the fourth round at 1:39, when Brady secured a guillotine choke submission.

The first round saw Brady aggressively pressuring Edwards from the outset. Despite a few brief clinches where Edwards managed to break free, Brady maintained control, landing combinations and a body kick countered by Edwards. Brady`s pressure led to a takedown in the final 20 seconds of the round.

Brady initiated Round 2 with an immediate double-leg takedown, taking Edwards` back and maintaining ground control throughout the round. He effectively transitioned between top control and back control, keeping Edwards grounded.

In the third round, Edwards responded with an uppercut and elbow as Brady attempted to rush him. Edwards initially defended a takedown but was subsequently reversed after attempting his own, ending up on the mat. Brady continued his ground dominance, landing strikes and maintaining back control to finish the round.

Early in the fourth round, Brady used strikes to push Edwards back and secure another takedown. From the top position, Brady locked in a guillotine choke, forcing Edwards to submit.

Following his decisive victory over former UFC welterweight champion Edwards, particularly on short notice, Brady anticipates moving to the top spot in the rankings.
