Former world No. 1 and 2003 US Open champion, American Andy Roddick, has commented on the recent end of the collaboration between Great Britain`s Andy Murray and 24-time Grand Slam champion, Serbian tennis player Novak Djokovic.
“I don`t think it`s really surprising or shocking,” Roddick stated on Tennis Channel. “I thought they would last until Wimbledon. But I have to admit, I`m almost always wrong in my predictions about Novak Djokovic, whether it`s his knee, hamstring, a rupture, or the date when he will play. But let`s be honest, even our cats can coach Novak. What can you teach someone who has won so many matches on court? It all depends on his motivation and physical condition. If he`s motivated and in good shape, he`s dangerous. If he`s not trained enough, opponents can beat him.”
It was announced in November 2024 that Djokovic would participate in some tournaments in 2025 under Murray`s guidance. The partnership was initially planned to continue until the Australian Open in 2025.
