British tennis player Emma Raducanu spoke about her experience after advancing to the second round of the Queen`s Club tournament in London. In her opening match, she defeated Spain`s Cristina Bucșa with a score of 6/1, 6/2.
“I have to admit, I was extremely focused today, so I`m very happy with the final result,” Raducanu stated.
“There was definitely some nerves present at the start. This is my first time playing on the courts at Queen`s. The public support was incredible.”
She added, “I would say I`m still in the process of adapting to this type of surface. There are moments in the match where I feel slightly behind, and I am actively working on that.”
Raducanu acknowledged the challenge posed by her opponent: “I was aware that today`s match wouldn`t be an easy one – I had already lost to Cristina earlier this season, so I put in every effort to avoid a repeat of that outcome.”
Looking ahead in the tournament, her goal is clear: “My aim is to stay at Queen`s for as long as possible and play as many matches as possible,” she concluded.
