On Monday, both the Carolina Hurricanes and Edmonton Oilers established commanding 3-1 leads in their respective playoff series. The Hurricanes defeated the Washington Capitals 5-2 in Game 4, while the Oilers secured a 3-0 shutout victory against the Vegas Golden Knights in their Game 4 matchup.
Carolina`s victory marked their second consecutive home win. Although the Capitals, with goals from Jakob Chychrun and Alex Ovechkin, managed to narrow the gap, Taylor Hall`s game-winning goal and an assist on Sean Walker`s subsequent insurance marker secured the 5-2 win for the Hurricanes. Hall`s impactful two-point performance was a key factor in their success.
In the Western Conference, the Edmonton Oilers delivered a dominant performance against the Vegas Golden Knights, never trailing in their 3-0 win. Veteran Adam Henrique scored two goals – his first two-goal game in the playoffs since 2012. Evander Kane also contributed significantly with a goal and an assist. Goalie Stuart Skinner, stepping in for the injured Calvin Pickard, was flawless, stopping all 24 shots faced.
Playoff action continues Tuesday with Game 4 between the Dallas Stars and Winnipeg Jets in Dallas. The Jets will look to even their second-round series after falling 5-2 to the Stars in Game 3 on Sunday.
