Brad Marchand delivered a standout performance for the Florida Panthers, leading them to a crucial 5-4 double-overtime victory against the Edmonton Oilers in Game 2 of the Stanley Cup Final. Marchand scored two goals in the contest, evening the series at one game apiece before it heads to South Florida.

The game began with rapid, high-scoring action, as the two teams combined for five goals in the initial period. This outburst marked the highest-scoring first period in a Stanley Cup Final since 2016, when the Pittsburgh Penguins and San Jose Sharks also scored five goals in the opening frame.

Marchand`s goals were facilitated by teamwork, particularly with Anton Lundell. The game-winning goal occurred 8:04 into the second overtime period when Lundell sent the puck forward to Marchand, who then tucked it past Oilers goaltender Stuart Skinner by banking it off his pad.

The winning goal offered Marchand a chance at redemption, as he had a prime opportunity to end the game earlier in the first overtime. After receiving a pass from Carter Verhaeghe, Marchand attempted several close-range shots on Skinner, but a subsequent rebound frustratingly rang off the post, prolonging the game.

Sergei Bobrovsky faced challenges in the opening period, allowing three goals. However, the Panthers` netminder significantly settled in afterward, making 41 saves on 45 shots and conceding only one goal over the extensive remaining time, covering more than three periods.
