NHL Playoffs 2025: Stanley Cup Final schedule, bracket, scores, as Panthers blowout Oilers in Game 3

Following two consecutive overtime contests to kick off the Stanley Cup Final, the Florida Panthers ensured Game 3 wouldn`t follow suit. The Panthers delivered a decisive defeat to the Edmonton Oilers, securing a lopsided 6-1 victory.

Florida took an early lead just 56 seconds into the match when Anton Lundell and Brad Marchand combined to win a battle in front of the net and score past Stuart Skinner. This goal was noted as Marchand`s fourth of the series and third straight for the Panthers.

The situation only worsened for the Oilers from that point on. Florida controlled every aspect of the game and consistently got under Edmonton`s skin. By the conclusion of the second period, the Panthers held a commanding 4-1 lead, featuring two impressive goals from Sam Reinhart and Sam Bennett.

Defensively, the Panthers were utterly dominant. They completely shut down Leon Draisaitl, preventing him from registering a single shot on goal, while Connor McDavid was effectively neutralized. When these key players are contained, it makes winning nearly impossible for Edmonton.

Perhaps the most damaging factor for the Oilers was their self-inflicted penalties. They committed three offensive zone penalties and a bench minor penalty in the first period alone. By the game`s end, Edmonton had lost their composure, racking up a staggering 85 penalty minutes as a team. It was hard to believe this was the same Oilers team that had competed closely with the Panthers in the first two games.

We await the Oilers` response in Game 4 on Thursday night, as the Panthers will be looking to replicate their dominant performance.
