The Florida Panthers are demonstrating championship-level performance once again. After successfully defending home ice in Games 3 and 4, the defending Stanley Cup champions dominated the Toronto Maple Leafs on the road, scoring six consecutive goals en route to a commanding 6-1 victory. This win positions them for a potential series-clinching game back in South Florida on Friday night.
The Panthers` six-goal outburst was part of an impressive run of nine unanswered goals, dating back to their overtime win in Game 3 last Friday. Florida also secured a 2-0 shutout victory in Game 4. In Wednesday`s game, goaltender Sergei Bobrovsky was outstanding, stopping the first 31 shots he faced and coming within 66 seconds of a second consecutive shutout. Offensively, Jesper Boqvist and A.J. Greer each recorded their first career playoff goals, supported by goals from defensemen Aaron Ekblad, Dmitry Kulikov, and Niko Mikkola.
The Stanley Cup Playoffs action continues tonight. The Edmonton Oilers have an opportunity to close out their second-round series against the Vegas Golden Knights on the road.
