Earlier in the game, Carolina captain Sebastian Aho had a significant impact, scoring two goals that gave the Hurricanes a 2-0 lead by the end of the first intermission. Unfortunately for Carolina, their advantage quickly disappeared in the second period as the Panthers scored three rapid goals within a span of 4 minutes and 26 seconds.
