NHL Playoffs 2025 Schedule, Bracket, and Scores: Panthers Dominate Hurricanes in Game 1

The Florida Panthers continued their impressive run in Game 1 of the Eastern Conference Final. Just two days after a decisive Game 7 victory over the Toronto Maple Leafs, the Panthers traveled to Raleigh and secured a convincing 5-2 win against the Carolina Hurricanes.

Florida quickly took control in the first period. Carter Verhaeghe opened the scoring with a smooth backhand over Frederik Andersen`s shoulder. Aaron Ekblad quickly doubled the lead, giving the Panthers an advantage they wouldn`t relinquish.

Carolina captain Sebastian Aho brought the Hurricanes within one late in the first with a somewhat controversial goal, but that was the closest they got. Five different Panthers players found the net, showcasing their deep offense. Sergei Bobrovsky delivered another strong performance, stopping 31 of 33 shots.

The Hurricanes` difficulties in the Eastern Conference Final continued, marking their 13th consecutive loss in this round, a streak dating back to 2009. Their next opportunity to end this slide comes in Game 2 on Thursday night.

Meanwhile, the Western Conference Final features a rematch between the Dallas Stars and the Edmonton Oilers. Dallas is coming off an intense six-game series against the Winnipeg Jets, while Edmonton had more rest after concluding their series against the Vegas Golden Knights in five games.

This series promises significant offensive firepower, pitting Mikko Rantanen, the leading scorer in the playoffs, against Connor McDavid, Leon Draisaitl, and the potent Oilers.
