Mats Wilander Foresees Djokovic’s Clay Court Season Starting with Difficulties

Sports News

Former world number one, Mats Wilander from Sweden, has shared his expectations regarding Serbian player Novak Djokovic`s performance in clay court tournaments. Wilander believes that the 24-time Grand Slam champion might not have a strong beginning to the clay season.

“I anticipate he will encounter some difficulties initially, similar to recent years,” Wilander stated.

He added, “This part of the season isn`t ideally suited to his playing style. While Novak is an exceptional clay court player, his ball-striking technique on this surface isn`t optimal. His forehand may not be as effective on these courts, which can pose challenges for him,” Wilander was quoted by Tennis World USA.
