Mark Petchey Linked Sinner’s French Open Final Loss to His Three-Month Absence

Sports News

Emma Raducanu`s coach, Mark Petchey, commented on Jannik Sinner`s loss to Carlos Alcaraz in the French Open final, where Alcaraz won with a score of 6/4, 7/6(4), 4/6, 6/7(3), 6/7(2:10).

“In my opinion, many people consider that three months off from playing wasn`t a strict enough penalty for him. But now he has paid his price,” Petchey stated.

“He hasn`t been able to participate in many major matches in recent months, and from my perspective, the emotional strain – even though he managed to turn the fifth set around and get back into the game – proved to be the decisive factor against an opponent like Carlos Alcaraz. I believe he paid a sufficiently high cost by not being able to add a third consecutive Grand Slam title to his achievements,” Petchey explained during the broadcast on TNT Sports.
