Beach volleyball, the sport synonymous with sun and sand, will rightfully take place at Alamitos Beach in the City of Long Beach. This designated LA28 Venue City provides a natural, picturesque backdrop for the dynamic, high-energy matches that make beach volleyball an Olympic favourite. Meanwhile, the indoor volleyball tournament will head to the Anaheim Arena. This established premier entertainment and sports venue is poised to provide a grand, climate-controlled stage for the powerful serves, precise sets, and thunderous spikes of the indoor game.
The action on the sand begins early in the Games. The Beach Volleyball Preliminary Rounds are scheduled from Saturday, July 15, through Saturday, July 22, featuring multiple sessions each day to accommodate the breadth of the initial competition. The stakes rise with the R16 matches on Sunday, July 23, and Monday, July 24. Quarterfinalists will then compete intensely on Tuesday, July 25, and Wednesday, July 26. The crucial Semi-finals for both men and women are slated for Thursday, July 27. The quest for gold culminates with the Women’s Beach Volleyball Final on Friday, July 28, followed by the Men’s Final on Saturday, July 29.
Indoor volleyball mirrors the intensity, with its Preliminary Rounds commencing on the same day as beach volleyball, Saturday, July 15, and concluding on Sunday, July 23. Each day of the preliminary phase will see four sessions across the men’s and women’s tournaments. The knockout rounds kick off with the Quarterfinals across four sessions on Monday, July 24, and Tuesday, July 25. The final four teams will battle for a spot in the medal matches during the Semifinals on Wednesday, July 26, and Thursday, July 27. The ultimate medals will be decided from Friday, July 28, through Sunday, July 30, with the final volleyball match marking one of the closing events of the LA28 Olympic Games.
