Kelvin Gastelum and Joe Pyfer are set to finally face off in the octagon.
Their middleweight fight, initially planned for UFC Mexico just over a week ago, has been rescheduled for UFC 316 on June 7 in Newark, New Jersey.
The rematch was confirmed by MMA Junkie, following an announcement from Pyfer`s head coach on MMA on SiriusXM this Monday.
Gastelum, with a record of 19-9 MMA (13-9 UFC), and Pyfer, at 13-3 MMA (4-1 UFC), were originally slated to headline the main card of UFC on ESPN 64 in Mexico City on March 29. However, Pyfer had to withdraw hours before the event due to illness, attributing it to food poisoning in Mexico and expressing his strong dislike for the country.
Gastelum is aiming to continue his winning streak after a unanimous decision victory against Daniel Rodriguez at UFC on ABC 6 on June 22. Pyfer is coming off a quick 85-second victory over Marc-Andre Barriault, earning his third Performance of the Night bonus.
