Born on June 1, 1982, in Liège, Belgium, Justine is the daughter of José and Françoise. She has two brothers, David and Thomas, and a sister, Sarah.
Her professional career began in 1999. Throughout her time on tour, she captured 43 WTA titles and earned an impressive $20,863,335 in prize money.
Henin boasts an impressive record of seven Grand Slam singles titles: the Australian Open in 2004, the French Open (Roland Garros) in 2003, 2005, 2006, and 2007, and the US Open in 2003 and 2007. She also reached the Wimbledon final twice, in 2001 and 2006. A former world No. 1, she first topped the WTA rankings in October 2003, holding the top spot for a total of 117 weeks.
She was a dedicated representative for Belgium in international team competitions. In 2001, partnering with Kim Clijsters, she led Belgium to victory in the Fed Cup (now Billie Jean King Cup). She also won an Olympic gold medal at the Athens Games in 2004.
Henin initially surprised the tennis world by retiring in the middle of the 2008 season. She made a brief comeback in 2010 but retired definitively after the 2011 Australian Open.
In her personal life, she has two children with her second husband, photographer Benoît Bertuzzo: a daughter, Lali, born in March 2013, and a son, Victor, born in May 2017. Her hobbies include watching films and listening to music.
