Joe Pyfer Fight Canceled for UFC Mexico City Event

A highly anticipated fight at UFC on ESPN 64 has been called off.

Just hours before the event in Mexico on Saturday, Joe Pyfer was forced to withdraw from his fight against Kelvin Gastelum due to illness, as announced by the UFC.

This welterweight matchup was set to be a key fight on the main card at CDMX Arena. Both fighters successfully made weight at the weigh-ins on Friday. The event will proceed with a total of 12 fights.

“I’m heartbroken that I can’t fight today. I got very sick and hope we can reschedule this fight in a few weeks,” Pyfer shared in an Instagram story after the cancellation news. “This is unfortunately a risk of traveling internationally. My apologies everyone. We’ll be back.”
