Jesus Pinedo Excited to Use Elbows Against Adam Borics in PFL

MMA News

Jesus Pinedo is very enthusiastic about his return to the cage, especially given the changed circumstances.

Pinedo (23-6-1), once a prominent figure in MMA, will face Adam Borics (19-2) this Thursday in Orlando, Florida, for the 2025 PFL featherweight tournament quarterfinals. “El Mudo” hasn`t fought since November 24, 2023, the night he made history by becoming the PFL featherweight champion and winning the $1 million prize.

He also became the first Peruvian fighter to secure a major MMA title.

After overcoming injuries and fight cancellations, Pinedo is finally resuming his career. He welcomes the legalization of elbows in PFL and the elimination of the season format.

“For me, things are still the same, but it`s true they changed the tournament format and rules,” Pinedo stated to MMA Junkie in Spanish. “Now elbows are allowed, which I appreciate because it felt like a weapon was taken from me. In past fights, I often use elbows, and now you`ll see that again.”

“I`m prepared for this format, and I believe it`s an improvement. Now, we`ll truly see who is the best, not just who gets lucky wins.”

Pinedo faces a challenging opponent in Borics, a Kill Cliff fighter with a 5-1 record in his last six fights, including a win against Pinedo`s friend and former teammate, Enrique Barzola.

The 31-year-old is eager to compete and confidently predicts a victory over Borics.

“I`m ready. I know he`s a good opponent,” Pinedo acknowledged. “I know he has a strong record and has fought significant opponents, but I`m ready and completely confident that I will be victorious that day. I will defeat him.”
