Jakub Mensik on Victory Over Ben Shelton: ‘Today I Was Returning Really Well’

Sports News

World No. 23 Jakub Mensik commented on his victory over Ben Shelton in the third round of the Madrid Masters, where he won the match 6-1, 6-4.

Asked about the challenge of playing against an opponent with a serve as powerful as his own, Mensik was questioned about his approach.

“Honestly, I don`t know,” Mensik responded. “Today I was returning really well. Although Ben can certainly serve even better. At this altitude, on top of it being the fastest clay court, it wasn`t easy to return his serve. I knew he wasn`t in his best shape, and neither was I, but I still tried to give my maximum. I`m happy I was able to win. Let`s see what happens in the next match.”
