‘I really hope he makes it.’ Jakub Mensik hopes Novak Djokovic achieves 25th Grand Slam title

Sports News

Jakub Mensik, the Czech tennis player currently ranked 23rd in the world, offered his perspective on Serbian athlete Novak Djokovic`s quest for a remarkable 25th Grand Slam singles title. Djokovic is set to celebrate his 38th birthday on May 22nd.

Mensik commented on Djokovic`s future: “Novak has a choice to make. Naturally, age takes its toll, but he still demonstrates the drive to remain among the elite, competing for a spot in the top 5 or top 10. Perhaps he won`t be able to win all four Grand Slam tournaments in a single season anymore, but he definitely still possesses the potential to clinch these titles. I know his goal is the 25th title, and I sincerely hope he achieves it. For me, he is the greatest player of all time, even if he doesn`t secure another victory.”

Mensik also recounted how his connection with Djokovic began: “After my final at the Junior Australian Open in 2022, we had training sessions together. I remember him supporting me during the match. At the post-match press conference, I called Novak my idol for the first time, and in response, he invited me to his training center in Belgrade. I was able to practice with him there several times. Later, before Wimbledon, we returned to Montenegro, and that`s where our friendship started,” Mensik shared.
