Holger Rune on Top 10 Return: ‘Very Happy and Proud’

Sports News

World No. 13 Holger Rune shared his thoughts after defeating Karen Khachanov in the Barcelona tournament semi-final with a score of 6-3, 6-2.

“It was a fantastic match. I played with confidence, just like yesterday, hitting the ball powerfully and throwing my opponent off balance. Today, I mixed up the rhythm of my shots, and it worked effectively against Karen. I used more variety, trying to hit different spots to diversify my game. I`m very happy to reach the final,” Rune stated at the press conference.

The Danish player also commented on his upcoming return to the Top 10 rankings this week.

“This match was extremely important for me. I knew that winning would bring me back into the Top 10. This added pressure but also motivated me. Ultimately, I focused on my game and how I wanted to play the match, as that`s the only thing you can control. I was hitting confidently with both my forehand and backhand, served well, and played with the right tactics. I am very pleased and proud of myself.”
