The woman who has accused five former members of Canada`s 2018 world junior hockey team of sexual assault delivered her testimony in court on Monday, according to the Associated Press. She stated that Michael McLeod, Carter Hart, Alex Formenton, Dillon Dube, and Cal Foote performed unwanted sexual acts on her at a hotel in London, Ontario.
According to her testimony, she initially joined McLeod in his hotel room after attending a gala celebrating the team`s world championship victory. She recounted that she and McLeod had sexual intercourse before two other men arrived. While she was in the bathroom, two more individuals entered the room.
The woman alleged that the five men forced her to lie on a bedsheet while discussing sexual acts they desired her to perform. She claimed the men also pulled down their pants, indicating they wanted oral sex, and one of them performed a split maneuver over her face.
“It felt degrading,” she stated, as reported by the AP. “It was all just a joke to them.”
She further testified that when she went into the bathroom, one of the men followed her, put on a condom, and had sex with her there.
The woman claimed she attempted to leave on multiple occasions, but was persuaded by the men to stay each time. She also expressed that she was unsure how they might react if she refused their advances.
“My mind just shut down,” the woman said, describing her state during the events.
All five men have been charged with sexual assault. Michael McLeod faces an additional charge of being a party to sexual assault. Four of the players (McLeod, Hart, Dube, and Foote) were active on NHL rosters when the charges were filed.
