England captain Harry Kane had a moment he`d rather forget during Bayern Munich`s 2-0 defeat to Paris Saint-Germain in the quarter-finals of the FIFA Club World Cup in the United States. His loss of possession in midfield directly led to Desire Doue scoring the opening goal for PSG.
Later in the match, Kane saw a potential equalizing goal disallowed for offside. Despite PSG being reduced to nine players, they managed to seal their impressive victory deep into stoppage time when substitute Ousmane Dembele found the back of the net.
While Kane successfully ended his much-discussed trophy drought by winning the Bundesliga title in the 2024-25 season, the Club World Cup exit was a setback. Following the loss, he posted a message on Instagram expressing his disappointment: “Gutted we couldn’t achieve what we were working so hard to do. Now we need to rest, recover, dust ourselves down and come back fresh for the new season.”
The 31-year-old striker also extended his support to teammate Jamal Musiala, who suffered a serious broken ankle during a challenge with PSG goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma, an injury expected to keep the Germany international sidelined for several months. Kane`s message to Musiala was clear: “To Jamal Musiala – we’re with you every step of the way.”
Looking ahead, Bayern Munich`s schedule includes a couple of friendly matches, notably a reunion for Kane with his former club Tottenham. They will then officially kick off their 2025-26 campaign on August 16 with a Super Cup clash against Stuttgart.
