Croatian tennis player Goran Ivanisevic, the 2001 Wimbledon champion, discussed his time coaching Kazakhstani tennis star Elena Rybakina. Ivanisevic was Rybakina`s coach from late 2024 to January 2025.
Ivanisevic characterized their partnership as “somewhat strange and disheartening.” He noted that even prior to coaching her, he regarded Rybakina as a top global player, admiring her elegant and straightforward playing style.
However, Ivanisevic explained that events outside of the tennis court, beyond his influence and against his wishes to be involved in, ultimately led to his decision to step down from Rybakina`s team. He wished her well in her future endeavors.
