World No. 46 Gael Monfils defeated Jaume Munar of Spain in the third round of the Miami tournament with a score of 7-5, 5-7, 7-6(1).
This marks the fifth time in his career that the Frenchman has reached the fourth round of the Miami Open, and his first time since 2016.
At 38 years old, Monfils is the second oldest player to reach the round of 16 at a Masters level event. He is only surpassed by Ivo Karlovic, who reached this stage in Indian Wells at the age of 40.
In the next round, Monfils will face Sebastian Korda for a place in the quarterfinals.
