Former world No. 2, two-time French Open finalist, Spaniard Alex Corretja believes that the period when Roger Federer, Novak Djokovic, and Rafael Nadal dominated the tour was extraordinary. He drew a parallel between the era of the `Big Three` and the current situation.
Corretja stated: “The era of absolute dominance of Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal, and Novak Djokovic was illogical. What happened before was extraordinary, and what is happening now is normal. There will always be players who stand out more, but maintaining a high level has become more difficult.”
He also noted: “Now there are more distractions. Previously, we only thought about the game, but today players have many more concerns that can distract them.”
