Former UFC Fighter Sean Loeffler Admits Guilt in Sexual Abuse Case

MMA News

Sean Loeffler, a retired mixed martial arts fighter who once signed with the UFC, has pleaded guilty to a sexual abuse charge in Oregon. This plea allowed him to avoid a potential prison sentence of over 12 years.

Last year, Loeffler, aged 42, received a two-year sentence in San Diego after pleading guilty to multiple domestic violence charges in a plea deal. These charges involved incidents with four different women, totaling 11 charges.

He was released on parole in November due to time already served and pre-sentence credit. However, in February, he was arrested again following another sexual incident, facing charges of felony sexual abuse and unlawful penetration.

In Lincoln County, Oregon, court documents state the victim was a woman who was “unable to consent due to mental or physical incapacitation.” Loeffler pleaded guilty to a misdemeanor charge of sexual abuse and an offense related to communication interception. As a result of this plea, four felony charges against him were dropped.

His defense attorney, Mike Arnold, claimed Loeffler was falsely accused, citing “inconsistent statements” from the woman in Oregon. The felony charges that were dropped carried potential minimum sentences ranging from 12 years and six months to 16 years and 8 months.

Arnold commented on the risk of false accusations, stating, “If you are a man falsely accused of a crime, you must consider the possibility that people who make false accusations could be on your jury.”

While Arnold anticipates Loeffler`s release after sentencing in Oregon, there is still uncertainty regarding potential extradition to California. The San Diego Superior Court has issued a warrant related to his February arrest.

In 2012, Loeffler was very close to his UFC debut at UFC on FUEL TV 1 against Buddy Roberts. Unfortunately, he injured himself during warm-ups and had to withdraw from the fight. Despite remaining undefeated in regional fights since then, he never returned to the UFC.
