EA Sports has released the initial driver ratings for the upcoming F1 25 video game. While many of these ratings are expected to spark debate among fans, one decision appears to be widely accepted: four-time world champion Max Verstappen starts the game with the highest overall rating (OVR) at 95.
Each driver`s overall rating (OVR) is determined by four underlying statistics: Experience (EXP), Racecraft (RAC), Awareness (AWA), and Pace (PAC). Verstappen`s specific attribute breakdown includes 87 EXP, 96 RAC, 85 AWA, and 96 PAC. The emphasis on Experience as a separate stat is particularly notable, as it provides context for why promising younger drivers might initially seem undervalued in the game`s rankings.
Consequently, drivers such as Andrea Kimi Antonelli, Oliver Bearman, Isack Hadjar, and Gabriel Bortoleto, despite demonstrating strong performance in their rookie appearances or feeder series, have their OVRs limited by lower Experience scores. Oscar Piastri, who is currently having a very strong real-world season, also receives a relatively lower OVR of 87. This places him below more experienced veterans like Fernando Alonso and Lewis Hamilton in the initial game ratings, largely influenced by the Experience factor.
Here is the full initial list of F1 25 driver ratings:
