Emma Raducanu: I’ve Found My Fighting Spirit and Focus on Every Point

Sports News

World No. 60 Emma Raducanu commented on her progress at the Miami tournament. The Briton has reached the quarter-finals of a WTA 1000 event for the first time.

“I`m playing better now than I was in Australia. It`s very challenging, the conditions are constantly changing, but I`m especially proud that I`ve found my fighting spirit and focus on every point. I think I`ve been lacking this in recent months and even years.”

“For me, the main victory of the week is feeling this hunger, competitive spirit, and desire to run for every ball.”

“Yes, I think so. I go out knowing that I will focus on every point, on every ball. So far, it`s working great. Honestly, I`m very happy.”

“In my opinion, I`ve started thinking less on the court, which is probably a good thing. I try to give way to instinct, because that`s when I show my best tennis. I don`t think – I just fight for every ball, and then let my instincts take over,” Raducanu said at a press conference.

Regarding the match with Anisimova, Emma Raducanu mentioned: “I felt that something was wrong with my opponent. When she makes mistakes and then hits the lines, it`s difficult to maintain concentration.”
