US Open 2021 champion and world No. 49, British tennis player Emma Raducanu, has voiced significant anxiety regarding the potential for accidentally ingesting a substance prohibited by the anti-doping regulations.
“I don`t want to take anything, even if doctors say I should,” she stated, expressing her caution about medication. “Even if a drug isn`t on the banned list, you`re not sure if it`s contaminated with something else.”
Raducanu specifically highlighted her worry about visiting public places like restaurants. “We could go to a restaurant and someone could easily spike your drink,” she explained. “That`s a really big thing, especially if you`re conspicuous and they know who you are. That`s what I`m really worried about, it`s unnerving every single time.”
