Ekaterina Alexandrova Reaches Roland Garros Third Round, Discusses Playing Style Change

Sports News

World No. 20 Ekaterina Alexandrova shared her thoughts after defeating Elisabetta Cocciaretto 6/1, 6/3 in the second round of Roland Garros.

“I played a good match, especially in the first set where everything clicked,” Alexandrova said. “I knew the second wouldn`t be as easy. A real fight developed, but overall, everything was under control.”

Alexandrova mentioned she had missed two tournaments leading up to Roland Garros. “Considering this period without matches, I think I`m playing quite well,” she stated. “Moving forward, in the match against Veronika [Kudermetova], it`s important to focus specifically on myself.”

The Russian player also spoke about her evolving strategy. “It`s important for me to continue playing the way I`m trying to now: not rushing,” she explained. “Even if a rally isn`t going exactly as I`d like, I try not to force it. Before, I might try to hit a winner on any ball, comfortable or not, but now I`m trying to wait for a more suitable moment. Even if I don`t always like doing it this way.”
