Coco Gauff has weighed in on a significant choice: winning another Grand Slam title versus achieving the world No. 1 ranking. The American tennis star, who triumphed at the US Open 2023, is currently ranked third in the world, with her highest ranking being No. 2.
When asked about her preference:
– What would you choose – to win another Grand Slam or to become world No. 1?
Gauff responded:
– Another Grand Slam. I always say that. I believe people remember you more for your Grand Slam titles than for holding the No. 1 ranking. Of course, achieving both would be fantastic.
Personally, with only one Grand Slam title to my name, I`m aiming for another. If I had around four Grand Slams and had never reached the No. 1 ranking, my perspective might be different.
But for now, with just one Grand Slam win, my priority is to win another to solidify my status, Gauff explained at a press conference in Miami.
