Chase Hooper Looks to Face Younger Competition After UFC 314

MMA News

MIAMI – After his victory over Jim Miller at UFC 314, Chase Hooper spoke to the media on Saturday.

Hooper is currently on a five-fight winning streak, with his recent victories coming against seasoned lightweights in the UFC. At UFC 310 last December, he earned a bonus for his submission win against Clay Guida. This Saturday at UFC 314, Hooper (16-3-1 MMA, 8-3 UFC) secured a dominant unanimous decision win over Jim Miller (38-19 MMA, 27-18 UFC).

Guida had just turned 43 the day after their fight, and Miller is 41 years old. Hooper, at 25, mentioned that he would prefer to be matched up against fighters with similar career stages.

“Many of my training partners are around 19 or 20 years old, so I definitely feel like one of the older guys now,” Hooper commented. “I feel like I`ve been involved in this sport for a considerable time. Having started fighting at 16, nine years later, here I am. I do feel a bit older and worn down, but that`s part of the game. I feel more established now. This is my moment to advance in the division. I don`t believe anyone achieves an easy win against Jim Miller.”
