Carlos Prates believes that Jack Della Maddalena will not pose a significant challenge to UFC welterweight champion Belal Muhammad.
Muhammad is scheduled to defend his welterweight title against Della Maddalena on May 10 at UFC 315, which will take place at Bell Centre in Montreal, Canada.
Prates, a rising welterweight contender himself, confidently predicts Muhammad will win the fight.
In an interview , Prates stated, “I think Belal`s going to win. Jack Della Maddalena seems like a good fighter, but he had a split decision win against Kevin Holland. He also fought another fighter, whose name I don`t recall and who is no longer in the UFC. Against Gilbert Burns, he was losing but managed to win in the last minute.”
Prates continued, “While his win against Gilbert Burns is notable, Belal Muhammad has consistently defeated top-level opponents. Although I`d like to see Della Maddalena as champion due to his striking style, I believe Belal Muhammad will win. I don`t anticipate it being a difficult fight for him.”
Prates, who has impressed with four knockouts and four Performance of the Night bonuses in his UFC career, is set to face Ian Machado Garry on April 26 at UFC on ESPN 66 in Kansas City.
