Aryna Sabalenka on the Match That Led Her to Use Drop Shots More Often

Sports News

World No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka shared her insights on why she has started incorporating drop shots more frequently into her game, especially on clay courts.

“Last year, when I got injured in Rome, something clicked, and the only way for me was to finish the point as soon as possible. I thought: why not use drop shots? I think the best practice is practicing before the match. Yes, I hit a lot of drop shots against Svitolina, and after that match, I thought: `Oh, this actually works, maybe we should work on this shot more often`.”

“We have a team, a coach, a hitting partner, so you just try to work on this shot with the team to make sure you can execute the drop shot in different situations. It`s quite simple,” Sabalenka explained.
