Pole vault sensation Armand Duplantis has been crowned `Sportsman of the Year` at the Laureus World Sports Awards 2025. This prestigious award recognizes Duplantis`s outstanding achievements as a two-time Olympic champion, two-time world champion, and the world record holder in pole vaulting.
Duplantis competed for this title against a strong field of athletes, including:
- Carlos Alcaraz (Spain, Tennis): A four-time Grand Slam champion and world No. 3.
- Max Verstappen (Netherlands, Motorsport): A four-time Formula 1 champion.
- Leon Marchand (France, Swimming): A four-time Olympic champion from the 2024 Olympics.
- Tadej Pogacar (Slovenia, Cycling): A three-time winner of the Tour de France.
The Laureus Awards nominations are determined by votes from over 1,000 sports media members across more than 70 countries. The Laureus World Sports Academy then selects the winners from these shortlists, highlighting the very best in global sports.
