Former world number one and 2003 US Open champion, American Andy Roddick, believes that the 24-time Grand Slam winner, Serb Novak Djokovic, will be considered one of the favorites for Roland Garros if he performs well in his initial matches.
“We have very short memories,” Roddick stated. “All we remember is his recent loss to Arnaldi (in Madrid). However, in Australia, he defeated Alcaraz, and he played Zverev, and people were saying that if he was fully healthy, he would have been the favorite. Zverev was ranked second or third in the world at the time.”
Roddick added, “Novak can quickly recalibrate his expectations. If he plays well in his first two matches at Roland Garros, we will see him placed back at the top of the favorites list. He possesses the ability to reset his focus faster than anyone else.”
