2025 Stanley Cup Odds and NHL Awards Predictions

NHL News

The 2024-25 NHL regular season is nearing its end, and the Stanley Cup Playoffs are approaching. Many teams made significant changes before the trade deadline, with well-known players potentially switching teams. Due to these recent changes, the latest NHL betting odds have changed a lot at sportsbooks recently.

SportsLine expert Jimmie Kaylor has analyzed the latest betting trends and NHL futures odds and has shared his top picks for the Stanley Cup, Hart Memorial Trophy, James Norris Memorial Trophy, and Calder Memorial Trophy.

In a previous prediction, Kaylor correctly picked Nathan MacKinnon to score the first goal and the game to have under 5.5 goals. MacKinnon scored the first goal, and the game ended 3-2.

Kaylor has now reviewed the latest NHL odds and has locked in his best futures bets for the Stanley Cup and NHL player awards.

2025 Stanley Cup Odds

Team Current Odds Last Week Odds Opening Odds
Washington Capitals +1000 +1000 +10000
Carolina Hurricanes +1000 +750 +1100
Colorado Avalanche +850 +1300 +1000
Edmonton Oilers +750 +575 +1000
Dallas Stars +600 +900 +1000
Florida Panthers +550 +800 +900

The Avalanche are currently the most popular bet, but the biggest potential payouts for the sportsbook are on the Oilers, Winnipeg Jets, and Detroit Red Wings. The Panthers were initially favored to win the Stanley Cup again and are still the favorites after acquiring Brad Marchand.

The Oilers are interesting with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, and the Stars added Mikko Rantanen, but Colorado improved their team the most at the trade deadline.

The Avalanche added Martin Necas and Jack Drury in a trade with Carolina, and then Brock Nelson, Charlie Coyle, Jimmy Vesey, Ryan Lindgren, and Erik Johnson at the deadline. Importantly, Colorado improved their goaltending earlier in the season by acquiring Mackenzie Blackwood and Scott Wedgewood. The Avs gained depth and toughness, and still have top players like Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar.

Best Bet: Colorado Avalanche +850

Hart Memorial Trophy Odds

Player Current Odds Last Week Odds Opening Odds
Nathan MacKinnon +475 +750 +550
Connor Hellebuyck +150 +115 +15000
Leon Draisaitl -165 -140 +2200

Draisaitl has overtaken his teammate, Connor McDavid, and is heavily favored to win the 2025 Hart Memorial Trophy. Hellebuyck is a popular bet and a significant potential loss for the sportsbook, while Auston Matthews accounts for about 20% of the total bets.

Draisaitl is the top scorer in the NHL and is second in total points behind MacKinnon. The Hart Trophy is likely Draisaitl’s to win. Hellebuyck is expected to win the Vezina Trophy, and while he’s been great, it’s unlikely he’ll surpass Draisaitl for the Hart. MacKinnon is a possible dark horse, leading the league in points, and the Avalanche might be the best team. MacKinnon’s odds could be better, offering value at +475.

Ultimately, Draisaitl is expected to win, but MacKinnon offers better betting value.

Best bet: Nathan MacKinnon (+475)

James Norris Trophy Odds

Player Current Odds Last Week Odds Opening Odds
Quinn Hughes +1800 +320 +600
Zach Werenski +190 +200 +10000
Cale Makar -300 -160 +250

Makar is very likely to win the 2025 James Norris Trophy, his second time as the NHL’s best defenseman. Betting on Makar at -300 isn’t very valuable unless you bet heavily. Werenski at +190 offers better value.

Best value bet: Zach Werenski (+190)

Calder Memorial Trophy Odds

Player Current Odds Last Week Odds Opening Odds
Dustin Wolf +1000 +2500 +1500
Matvei Michkov +800 +700 +350
Lane Hutson +260 +225 +700
Macklin Celebrini -225 -275 +400

Celebrini had similar hype to Connor Bedard and has lived up to it. The 18-year-old has 48 points (20 goals, 28 assists) and is playing center on San Jose’s top line. Like Makar for the Norris, betting on Celebrini at -225 isn’t very valuable. However, he doesn’t have a close competitor right now.

Best Bet: Macklin Celebrini (-225)
