Clearlight Inn is a fine hotel placed near Pomme deTerre Lake. When we were contacted to develop a website for Clearlight Inn, we immediately noted that the site wasn't mobile friendly. We wanted easy contact to the hotel on all interfaces. We also noticed that while the original design provided many photos, they weren't doing the hotel or the surrounding area justice. After further discussion with the owners, we found that the original logo was nice, but they really wanted something original that emphasized the character of the hotel.
After the original meeting, we immediately started collecting media for the site. We gathered photography of the rooms and the area. We created sheets of logos, and scrapped all of them for round one and two. We put together color schemes and developed drafts for the site. Larry and Cindy agreed to the drafts, and we took off building. We highlighted the vintage hotel sign, a piece with history and character. The rustic feel of the entry way was beautiful, and the feeling that you just got home always resonated through the atmosphere of the hotel no matter when we arrived. That was something we wanted to create in a digital page.
Once Cindy and Larry could put an image to their updated web presence, they really began to connect with what the site could do for them. Communication with customers and potential customers were top priorities. We developed easy access to contact information, quick dial buttons on mobile, and mobile friendly mapping and location buttons to find the hotel. We added quick access to the reservation system by adding reservation looking directly on the front page. Discussions regarding local attractions and filling in the gaps between major lake events was also a business goal they were looking to pursue by promoting some of the great things to do at Pomme deTerre.
In the end, we learned a ton from working with the friendly folks at Clearlight Inn, and I believe they did as well. It was a pleasure to work with Larry and Cindy Lightfoot. They take great pride in their business, and they were really excited to walk away with a fresh website and logo. They were great people, and offer a great facility for anyone looking for some lake fun at Pomme deTerre.
